Descripción:

Beatriz Sobradillo holds a PhD in Environment and Marine Resources from the University of the Basque Country. She carried out a post-doctoral research at the University of Oslo, focusing on the study of the behaviour of mesopelagic species using acoustic methods. She is currently a researcher at the AZTI Foundation. She specializes in the use of acoustic methods to estimate the abundance of pelagic species in the context of fisheries resource management. She has experience in the development of interdisciplinary research projects, applying biological, ecological, acoustic and statistical techniques. Experienced in field work on land and at sea, she has carried out about a dozen acoustic, trawl-acoustic and abundance assessment campaigns using the daily egg production method. She has specialized in the use of scientific echosounders and acoustic data processing software (Echoview), as well as data analysis, modelling and programming techniques (R language). She participates annually in ICES working groups: WG-ACEGG (on coordination and standardization of acoustic campaigns and egg production methods in the European NE) and WG-FAST (Fisheries Acoustics Science and Technology, the Fisheries Acoustics Working Group). During her career she has published several scientific papers in the ICES Journal of Marine Science and in Fisheries Research and has participated in numerous international conferences to disseminate results and develop research methods. She is currently involved in several European projects where she is responsible for the coordination and management, sampling, processing, analysis and interpretation of acoustic data.
