PhD in Biology and MSc in Applied Ecology & Conservation from the University of East Anglia (UK, 2009, 2002). She has been working as an interdisciplinary researcher in the Environmental Management of Seas and Coasts Area of AZTI since 2011. During her training she specialised in the study of the interactions between coastal tourism and coral reefs, including aspects such as climate change, coastal development, biodiversity, economic valuation and social research. He has participated/led several projects related to these and other subjects such as: marine ecosystem services, marine recreation, marine protected areas, environmental assessment, marine policy implementation, marine literacy, where his main interest lies. She has participated in more than 10 European projects, having been the manager of the European project DEVOTES (DEVelopment Of innovative Tools for understanding marine biodiversity and assessing good Environmental Status, 2012-2016). She has co-directed 1 PhD thesis and several Master’s and Bachelor’s theses. She participates in the teaching activity of the Erasmus Mundus Master in Environment and Marine Resources of the University of the Basque Country and the Master Biodiversity in Tropical Areas and its Conservation of the Menéndez Pelayo International University. She is co-author of more than 25 scientific articles/book chapters, and editor of the special issue of Marine Frontiers, for which she was awarded the Frontiers Sportlight Runner-up Award.
