San Sebastian, 14 December 2024. – This Saturday, the 17th edition of the Ramón Rubial Awards was held in San Sebastian. This event recognises individuals, organisations and entities that stand out for their commitment to values, justice and society. Under the slogan ‘Only with values can you win rights‘, the gala brought together representatives from different sectors in an emotional tribute to dedication and collective effort.

At this edition, AZTI received the Sustainability and Environmental Defence Award in recognition of its tireless work in favour of marine sustainability and quality education in the marine and coastal sector. The jury also highlighted AZTI’s contribution to the creation of a healthier, more sustainable and fair society, as well as its commitment to the major global challenges facing humanity. The award was received by Rogelio Pozo, CEO of AZTI.

  • Salvador Illa, President of the Generalitat de Catalunya, awarded the prize for Democracy and Freedom.
  • Guillermo Fernández Vara, former president of the Junta de Extremadura, winner of the award for the Defence of Socialist Values.
  • Silvia Intxaurrondo, journalist, award for Communication.
  • El Museo Chillida Leku, award for the Promotion of the Basque Country in the World.
  • Aitor Francesena, surfer, Sports Award.
  • La asociación Jambo Congo, Solidarity and Cooperation Award.
  • Landarbaso Abesbatza, choral group, Culture Award.
  • Betsaide, S.A.L., Business Award.

The ceremony underlined the importance of solidarity, collective effort and the defence of ethical principles as fundamental pillars for the construction of a fairer and more equitable society.
